Innovative Tech at Airports: Navitaire Navigate mobile application enhances agent mobility and service

Innovative mobile technology enhances efficiency and customer satisfaction at airports around the globe

MINNEAPOLIS, MN USA; 03 June 2025

Navitaire, an Amadeus company, has unveiled Navigate – a cutting-edge airport agent app that harnesses the power of mobile technology, giving flexibility for Navitaire airlines’ agents to work virtually anywhere within the airport.

This innovative technology allows airline agents that typically provide services at check-in counters or departure gates to use a mobile device connected to a mobile network to help travelers. As the agent can move freely through the airport, this can speed up the boarding process at the gate or reduce lines at check-in counters.

Navigate enhances the traveler's experience by increasing convenience, minimizing queues and offering personalized services. It empowers agents to assist travelers wherever they are, leading to shorter wait times and a smoother journey.

In addition, the new mobile app decreases operational costs and boosts efficiency by requiring minimal infrastructure and reducing energy consumption. It provides instant scalability of resources as needed, adapting to passenger flows through the airport. Navigate’s intuitive interface requires little training for airport agents, ensuring quick adaptability. It is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, adapting seamlessly to various screen sizes, whether on a mobile phone or tablet.

Four airlines participated in the testing phase of Navigate, offering valuable hands-on experience, feedback and suggestions for improvement. TUI Group, the largest leisure, travel and tourism company in the world, was one of the early testers of Navigate.

Amanda Grafton, Technical Team Lead – Ground Operations Airline Technology of TUI Group said, “Navigate gives our agents the freedom to check in passengers while on the move, which reduces wait times and improves efficiency at key passenger touchpoints, leading to a better overall airport experience.”

David P. Evans, CEO of Navitaire added; "Navitaire has always endeavored to deliver innovative solutions that address the unique challenges faced by our airline partners. Navigate embodies the evolution of that concept. It empowers agents to meet passengers where they are—amidst queues and various airport locations—improving the airport experience through modern technology."
